The short version: images you analyse are never uploaded, never stored and never seen by us. All processing happens inside your own browser. We collect no account data because there are no accounts.
1. Who this policy covers
This policy explains how Fake Images Detector ("we", "us", the "Service") handles information when you visit fakeimagesdetector.com or use the image analysis tool hosted on it. By using the Service you agree to the practices described here.
2. Images you analyse
This is the part that matters most, so we will be exact about it.
- Images you select, drag, drop or paste are read into your browser's memory using the standard FileReader API.
- All analysis — metadata inspection, noise measurement, compression profiling and error level analysis — is performed locally by JavaScript running on your device, using the HTML5 Canvas API.
- No image data is transmitted to our servers or to any third party. There is no upload endpoint in the Service.
- We do not store, cache, log, index, back up, train on or human-review your images.
- When you close the tab, reload the page or start a new scan, the image is released from memory.
You do not need to take our word for this. Open your browser's developer tools, switch to the Network tab, and run an analysis: you will observe that no request carrying image data is made.
3. Reports you generate
The downloadable text report is assembled in your browser and saved directly by your browser to your device. It is not sent anywhere, and we never receive a copy.
4. Information we do process
Technical and usage data
Like virtually all websites, our hosting infrastructure records standard server logs when a page is requested — IP address, user agent, referring page, requested resource and timestamp. This data is used to keep the site available, diagnose faults and detect abuse. It is not linked to any image, since we never receive images.
Analytics
We may use privacy-respecting analytics to understand aggregate traffic patterns — which pages are visited and roughly where visitors come from. Analytics measures page views, never image content or analysis results.
Messages you send us
If you contact us, we process the name, email address and message content you provide, solely to answer you. We do not add you to a marketing list without your explicit consent. Please do not attach confidential imagery to a support message — describe the result instead.
5. Cookies and local storage
The core detector requires no cookies to function. Where cookies or local storage are used, it is limited to remembering interface preferences and to any analytics or advertising services described below. You can block or clear cookies through your browser settings without losing access to the tool.
6. Third-party services
To deliver the site we load certain assets and services from third parties, which necessarily receive your IP address and user agent as part of any standard web request:
- Google Fonts and jsDelivr / Font Awesome — typography and icon assets.
- Our hosting and CDN provider — serving the site and mitigating abuse.
- Analytics and, where displayed, advertising partners — aggregate measurement and ad delivery, each governed by its own privacy policy.
None of these parties receive your images, because your images never leave your device.
7. Legal bases and your rights
Where the GDPR applies, we rely on legitimate interests for security logging and aggregate analytics, and on consent where consent is required. Depending on your jurisdiction you may have the right to access, correct, delete or port personal data we hold about you, to object to or restrict processing, and to lodge a complaint with your supervisory authority.
In practice, the only personal data we are likely to hold about you is a support email you chose to send us.
8. Data retention
Server logs are retained only as long as needed for security and operational purposes. Support correspondence is retained for as long as needed to resolve your enquiry and to keep a record of it. Images are retained for zero seconds, because we never receive them.
9. Children
The Service is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.
10. International use
The Service is available worldwide. Because analysis is performed on your own device, your images do not cross any border as a result of using the tool. Server log and support data may be processed in the country where our infrastructure or team is located.
11. Security
The site is served over HTTPS. The strongest security control we offer is architectural rather than procedural: data that is never transmitted cannot be intercepted, leaked or breached.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy to reflect changes in the Service or the law. Material changes will be signalled by updating the "last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use after an update constitutes acceptance.
